The grinds knocker -- a small rubber piece inside the Ode that most users never learn the name of. But it is what helps ground coffee fall neatly into the catch instead of clinging everywhere. When the knocker wears or hardens, you start noticing grinds flying around. That is the signal to replace.
The simplest swap of all: pull the old knocker out, push the new one in. No tools, no lengthy instructions. Two minutes, and the Ode is back to its tidy self.
